Relics of Trang Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem
Nguyen Binh Khiem (1491 - 1585) whose literal name is Hanh Phu, nicknamed Bach Van layman, was born into a hopeless family in Co Am village, Vinh Lai district, Hai Duong province (now Vinh Bao district). Hai Phong City). In 1535, he passed the poinsettia exam and became a mandarin for the Mac dynasty, holding the position of Ta Thi Lang. In 1543, before the landscape again abused his power, Nguyen Binh Khiem offered beheadings to 18 corrupt and treasonous gods, but was not approved by the king. He then went back to his hometown to hide, founded Bach Van am, opened a school to teach, write poetry, study history. Many of his students became famous generals and poinsettias such as: Phung Khac Khoan, Luong Huu Khanh, Nguyen Quyen... Nguyen Binh Khiem was also a great philosopher of Vietnam. He is also well versed in digital arts, being transmitted and revered by the people as the number one "prophet" of Vietnam with a series of prophecies for posterity that people call "Thunder Trang Trinh". To commemorate and inscribe Nguyen Binh Khiem's ​​contributions, descendants and villagers built a relic area with many work items to worship and display artifacts about his life and career.
Through the three-way gate with 3 Chinese characters "Trung Am Tu" (Trung Am temple) is the main temple area worshiping Nguyen Binh Khiem. The temple was built after Trang Trinh's death (1585) with an area of ​​more than 4 hectares, including 3 compartments built on the old foundation of Trang Trinh's old house, where the statue and tablet of Nguyen Binh Khiem was located. The statue of Nguyen Binh Khiem is made of wood, in the sitting position on the throne, he wears the dragon robe of the king, his head is a hat with the wings of a dragon, and his right hand holds the notebook up as if he is teaching poetry to his students. In front of the temple is Thai Nham lake about 1,000m² wide, on the land in the middle of the lake with a bridge over it, and a stone stele made in Vinh Huu year of the Le Dynasty (1736) recording the process and names of those who contributed to the construction of the temple.
Behind the temple are 3 pavilions with sedge roofs, simulating Bach Van am, where Nguyen Binh Khiem, after retiring from mandarin, returned to teach and write poetry. Near Bach Van am is a statue of Nguyen Binh Khiem, 5.7m high, weighing 8.5 tons, made of granite, in a sitting position holding a pen, a book in the hand, Confucian clothes, simple style. There are also two bas-reliefs designed quite elaborately and completely, each about more than 5m high, more than 20m long. The first picture describes the life and career of Trang Trinh from childhood to the end of life; The second picture describes a historical period of the locality from the time the French colonialists invaded until now.
Not far from the temple of Nguyen Binh Khiem is the grave of Nguyen Van Dinh, born Nguyen Binh Khiem; Kinh Thien Pen tower, which is said to have been built by students to praise Trang Trinh's talent; Song Mai pagoda; the temple of Ms. Minh Nguyet (Truong Trinh's second wife); Quan Trung Tan relic… Especially, within the relic site, there is also a statue garden depicting the life and teaching scene of Nguyen Binh Khiem in the past, creating a close and lively scene.
